Many people are right to think that the building process can be a complicated one to follow, and over the years we’ve been asked all sorts of questions by our clients. Please click on one of the questions below so we can help to guide you through any queries you may have, and if there is anything that you can’t find on here that you would still like to ask, please get in touch with a member of our team.
I'm considering having building work carried out but don't know where to start?
When you are considering having building work carried out at your home or business premises you will need to find out if planning permission is required. At this point you can either call Touchwood Building Contractors and arrange a no obligation survey of the property or land in question, or alternatively you can contact your local council office. If you are a residential home owner please click here to find out more about the building process.
What about Building control regulations, who looks after the this part of the build?
Don’t worry, we do, once we commence a project we make contact with the building inspector at the local Council office. We make all the necessary arrangements to have the building inspector carry out the relevant inspections, and we follow this process through until the project is completed and properly signed off.
When can you start?
We aim to start most projects within 4-8 weeks from confirmation of your order to proceed with the project. This does vary from time to time and we can sometimes accommodate earlier start dates. This is mainly dependent on our current work load at any given time and also the size of a project.
How long will the project take?
Each quotation we submit is accompanied by an estimated project duration. Following an instruction to proceed with any given project we will then produce a schedule/ programme of works. This will provide you with a guide to follow and monitor the progress on site and also enables you to plan your life around alongside the building works.
How much will my project cost?
Prices are dependent upon the size of the job, you can rest assured that our prices are competitive.
Can you provide references?
Yes! Now just a click away; please see our testimonials page, these are all genuine quotes taken from testimonials sent to us from real people we have worked for.
Do you offer any guarantees on the work that you carry out?
Yes, we can offer an insurance backed guarantee on the work that we carry out through the Guild of Master Craftsmen. Peace of mind, backed by our corporate membership to The Guild of Master Craftsmen.
Do you work to a form of contract?
Absolutely, for all domestic projects we use a specific homeowners’ contract produced by the JCT, for all commercial projects, we use which ever JCT contract is suitable, depending on the value of work.
Do you have insurance to carry out the work?
Yes, Touchwood Building Contractors Ltd is a limited company with £10 million public liability insurance and £2 million employers and products liability insurance coverage to protect all parties in nearly every eventuality.
When will tradesmen be attending site? Who will project manage to ensure it's completed on time?
Everyday one of our experienced supervisors will be on site checking the quality of workmanship and planning for the next stage of your project to ensure practical completion is achieved in accordance with the programme of works.
What about matching to my existing bricks, can you achieve a good enough match?
We have specialist suppliers that match bricks and we always achieve the very best possible match.
